South's two spade bid showed the minor suits. Evans showed fine judgment in protecting with three hearts but South has revealed shortage in the major suits.
Britain North-South: Cuthbertson (North) opened one no-trump, East called two clubs for a take-out. Shenkin (South) called a bluff three no-trumps and West doubled. North and East passed and South ran to four diamonds.
The opponents had lost too much bidding space and passed out meekly. Four diamonds went one down.
